Event Floral Designers Do Their Part to Brighten Dark Days

Humans can do some amazing things when the time calls for it. From lifting cars in times of dire need, to banning together to battle a world crisis, to flowering an entire city with love…

This past week, a well-known Portland flower wholesaler shut its doors due to COVID-19. In a positive turn of events, what resulted was the most beautiful act of kindness.

When the warehouse shut its doors, an entire array of flowers still needed to find homes or go to waste. That’s when The Portland Floral Community stepped up, and showed their support by installing the homeless flowers around the city.

Our good friends at Color Theory Design spearheaded this blossoming initiative.

Here’s what Allyssa Lytle, Owner of Color Theory Design, had to say: “Portland’s beloved Mayesh (one of our favorite flower wholesalers) has been forced to temporarily shut their doors and lay off their employees due to the impact of COVID-19 on their business. They have generously given local florists an abundance of flowers that would have otherwise been thrown away. Our thought is to utilize these blooms to make the greatest impact in the city and in the hearts of the people by creating urban floral installations for a drive-by tour of each florists’ creation.”

And that’s just what they did. Alyssa, and some of the area’s very best in floral design, came together and literally flower-bombed the Portland Metro Area.

We felt it was important to take these flowers (which represent some heavy hurt in the form of the cancellation of what would have been many happy events, and even the loss of employment for people we love) and turn them into a love letter, scrawled in flowers to reach as many people as possible, ” shared Janessa Stoltz, owner of Acorn & the Oak, a flower shop and cocktail lounge in Camas, Washington.

The beauty of each flower installation is a reminder of the altruism and humanitarianism of this incredible city. Consider one of these 15 flower designers for your next event or floral need.

Check each florists’ Instagram for up-to-date status reports and even more photos of their good will.

No two Indian-American weddings are the same. Some couples want full multi-day celebrations with Mehndi, Sangeet, Baraat, and multiple outfit changes. Others prefer a Western ceremony with cultural nods woven in throughout the day. Our job is not to box you into a template. We focus on creating a flow and experience that reflects your version of a fusion wedding. Your culture, your people, your vibe.

If you’re deep into the wedding design process, chances are you’ve already picked your linens, chargers, and maybe even the font on your menus. But let’s talk about the detail that often gets overlooked and yet has major visual payoff, the napkin fold.

Let’s be honest. If you’re asking yourself, “Do I really need a wedding planner?” you’re already feeling the weight of how complex this day actually is. It’s not just picking out flowers and choosing your favorite signature cocktail. This is a layered, high-stakes, logistically complex event that you only get one shot at.
